Richard and Jemma were married on the 7th April 2018 at Darwin Lake, near Matlock – It was a wonderfully happy and relaxed day, full of laughter and beautiful views! This is their Wedding Preview, to give you a taster of their amazing day!
Three miles from Matlock, surrounded by beautiful woodland, Darwin Lake village extends over 10 acres, and includes a perfectly sized wedding venue ‘Darwin Hall’, and in the centre is their private lake, which hosts magical sunsets.
Jemma and Richard always knew that they wanted a relaxed and informal day, so Darwin Lake with its stone built holiday cottages and beautiful setting was the perfect choice! They had over 40 of their guests staying over in individual cottages, so that everyone could enjoy their time together over the full weekend. They even had their chef return the next morning to make a big sit down breakfast for everyone! How amazing is that!
The Wedding Day
On the 7th of April I arrived at Darwin Lake to a flurry of drizzle and the forecast that it would rain for most of the day. We needn’t have worried though as the rain held off completely and it was an absolutely beautiful spring day for Jenna and Richard’s wedding!
Eyam Cottage was full of the hustle and bustle of a bride, five bridesmaids, and hair and make up artists, all getting ready for their big day ahead. Similarly, the boys’ cottage was a hive of activity too, along with a well stocked fridge of course!
Guests were already staying over and it was lovely seeing them milling about and popping in and out of one another’s cottages. The atmosphere was one of a fun and chilled out holiday weekend, with not a sign of wedding morning formalities or nervousness.
Richard and Jemma’s wedding service went without a hitch, and the reading from their friend Elliott was wonderfully fitting. Their rings were then joyfully exchanged and Richard gave Jemma a big kiss of course! The newlyweds then left in a flurry of confetti! How perfect!
The rest of the day was relaxed, as everyone mingled on the lawn, drinks in hand. The children played Pooh-sticks in the little brook, and everyone commented on what a perfect day it was.
As the evening arrived the beautiful festoon lights were turned on and the fire pit was lit. Guests gathered together in little groups and laughed and talked. Jemma’s cousin’s band Dr. Love & The Eargasms then played on into the night! You couldn’t ask for more!
Huge congratulations again Mr and Mrs Eyley! I hope you are having an amazing honeymoon and I can’t wait to share your full wedding gallery with you when it is complete!
