On the 18th August 2018, James and Natasha got married in the beautiful Derbyshire town of Bakewell surrounded by their family and friends, and I had the privilege of being their wedding photographer!
Natasha and James met on a fateful Wednesday evening in a dingy, sticky-floored nightclub in Manchester called 5th Ave, amidst a 99p-JaegerBomb haze.
Natasha explains: “I was out with my Rugby team and James was out with his rather unruly friend Tom, who does not know the meaning of “a quiet one” and had dragged James from bar to bar ending in 5th Ave with a bag full of handwritten GCSE coursework in tow (James is a teacher). Fast forward to 18 months later and James proposed! Our wedding date is three and a half years exactly after we met, and is very auspicious in the Chinese calendar being 18/08/18 which is important to me being raised in Hong Kong.”
And now here we are celebrating their wedding day in Bakewell and Haddon Grove Holiday Cottages!
Natasha and James didn’t require bride/groom prep as part of their photography coverage, so I met up with them both at All Saints Church in the centre of Bakewell. Guests were arriving from far and wide and enjoying the English sunshine! James and his many Groomsmen were being fantastic hosts and welcoming everyone to the special day! Natasha and her father Alan then arrived in their vintage VW Beetle. Natasha looked just beautiful in her grecian inspired dress and her cathedral length veil!
At 2.30pm the ceremony began and we all took our places! The wedding ceremony was wonderfully delivered and full of love and emotion. Both Mum’s gave a reading which was a lovely touch.
A lavender exit was a must! Followed by a happy exit for the new Mr and Mrs Peat in the VW Beetle! We all headed off to Haddon Grove Holiday Cottages, where a petal marquee was the destination for the celebrations. A wonderfully sunny drinks reception out in the Derbyshire countryside was just perfect.
James and Natasha enjoyed some time together before being announced in to their guests. And after some group photographs with the family, and then a walk around the cottages for some portraits of the happy couple, they all sat down for dinner.
Speeches were given by Natasha’s sister Charlotte, Dad Alan, James, and his two Best Men Lee and Carl, as well as an impromptu one by Natasha while her parents prepared for their hilarious international dance off!
As the evening drew in James and Natasha’s friends and family gathered around to watch them as they cut their wedding Bakewell Tarts before taking to the dancefloor to enjoy their first dance. Followed by an awesome set by brass band ‘King Brasstards‘ and LOTS of dance floor action! Including a fab Father-Daughter dance to The Bear Necessities!
Mr and Mrs Peat – I wish you both all the love and happiness in the world. Enjoy this wonderful time together and never stop smiling and having fun. Thank you for giving me the honour of being your wedding photographer in Bakewell. Enjoy your honeymoon adventures!!
