Whirlowbrook Hall in Sheffield was the perfect location for Lily and Mark’s wedding on Sunday 29th June (AKA The Hottest Day of the Year!) It was an amazing summer’s day filled with laughter and joy, and it was an absolute honour to spend the day capturing all their happy memories!
Congratulations again Mr and Mrs Locking; Welcome to your Wedding Photography Preview!
Our Lovely Couple, Lily and Mark (and little Phoebe):
“We met online but Mark likes to tell people we met in the pub! Hahaha! We have been together since January 2016 now; we moved in together pretty quickly after we met and we both knew quite soon after that we wanted to get married and be together forever and start a family. Then we found out we were pregnant in summer 2017 and, after the initial shock, we were over the moon! Phoebe was born April 2018 and she just completes us in every way. Mark and I are really family orientated and that’s what’s most important to us, especially on our Wedding Day.”
Mark proposed to Lily in September 2017. Lily says “He booked a surprise holiday to Barcelona. On the last night of the holiday we went for a walk around the harbour. There was a telescope so Mark told me to have a look through it so he could take an action shot, when I turned around he was on one knee with a beautiful ring and asking me to marry him! It was pretty emotional and we were both in tears. – I said yes, obviously!”
How Did You Choose Your Wedding Venue – Whirlowbrook Hall, Sheffield:
Lily explains “I always knew I wanted to get married at Whirlowbrook Hall. We used to go on dog walks around the grounds with my Mum even before I met mark and we would often see weddings going on and it all just looked so lovely. So when our time came, we didn’t actually even look at any other venues we just knew we wanted to spend our day at Whirlowbrook.”
The Wedding Day:
In the day’s leading up to Saturday the 29th June, Bride Lily was regularly checking the weather forecast for her wedding day. Watching it predict rain and thunderstorms most of the time. So what a wonderful surprise it was when they found that they actually had one of the hottest days of the year!
After one of the wettest Junes, there simply wasn’t a cloud in the sky for Lily and Mark’s day at Whirlowbrook Hall! Driving up the grand entrance it was stunning to see the venue approaching, surrounded by flowers and perfect gardens, and even some picnickers already out enjoying the sun in the public park. Lily and her Mum and Bridesmaids were having a wonderful morning getting ready and enjoying the views from their vantage point. Little Phoebe and her little friends were enjoying the breakfast blueberries and spending time with all their favourite people in the world.
Mark and Best Man Jamie enjoyed a cold beer in the gardens greeting their guests as they arrived. Everyone was super relaxed and looking forward to spending such a beautifully sunny day celebrating on the lawn!
The wedding ceremony was just perfect. With readings from Lily’s sister Beatrix and Mark’s Dad Paul, Lily and Mark said their “I Do’s” and proudly became Mr and Mrs Locking! It was then out onto the terrace for a relaxed drinks reception spending time with their guests. Lily and Mark also took a moment to have some couples portraits taken in some of the more shaded areas of the grounds. They found it was a special opportunity for them to spend some quiet intimate moments as just the two of them.
It was soon time for everyone to sit down for the Wedding Breakfast, which began with touching wonderful speeches by Mark and Best Man Jamie. Afterwards we had fun capturing moments such as Lily tossing her bouquet (Best Friend and Bridesmaid Becky caught it – for the third time at a wedding apparently!) and Mark and his school friends, AKA “The Lads”.
Then, as the sun started to make its descent, Mr and Mrs Locking cut their beautiful wedding cake and made their way to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. After a few dances everyone headed back outside for a barbecue as it was too beautiful an evening!
What more could you want from a summer wedding day!
What One Piece of Advice Would You Give Other Couples?
“Hmmmm well I would have to say that you only do it once so just go for it! Book the more expensive meal, buy the beautiful dress you really want. It’s the most special day of your life so just do it completely as you want it!”
