On the 21st of October Matt and Grace became Mr and Mrs Cotterill surrounded by their amazing friends and family at Packington Moor! I can’t even begin to describe how much fun everyone had! (Yep, including me!)
Welcome to their Wedding Photography Preview! Woo hoo!
Grace and Matt’s wedding took place on a true autumn day in late October. The leaves were all changing to orange and there was lovely chill in the air. The only surprise was that Storm Brian hit that very day and the winds were blustery and the rain was always threatening!
The morning was wonderfully relaxed and chilled out. Grace and Matt chose Packington Moor for their wedding day due it its perfect location and relaxed atmosphere, it is a beautiful converted barn and they just knew it was their perfect venue.
There are even two lovely well-equipped cottages on site for the bride and groom preparations. Grace, and her mum and sister-in-law, were busy getting ready in Walter’s Cottage, and Matt and the guys were drinking tea and (…eventually!) getting changed in The Coach House. The cottages even have a wonderful vantage point looking out onto the entrance so Grace even got to watch lots of her lovely guests arriving.
Matt and Grace wanted to have a ‘First Look’ as part of their wedding morning. First Looks are a relatively recent addition to the wedding day timeline, but the practice of staging a semi-private meeting of the two fiancés before the wedding ceremony begins has quickly become a popular choice for lots of couples. Grace and Matt enjoyed a wonderful moment of meeting each other in the gardens before their wedding ceremony. It was a chance to see each other, see how wonderful each other looks, and relieve any nerves before walking down the aisle.
Soon it was time for the festivities to begin! The guests had all taken their places in the intimate little barn, and the music had begun! Grace was beaming as she came down the aisle towards Matt! The service was perfect and full of personal touches, including readings from their friends.
After the ceremony the wind and drizzle prevented the guests from relaxing in the courtyard, but that wasn’t a problem at all and everyone hung out very happily in the bar and ceremony room! We even managed a big confetti photograph in the ceremony barn! That’s the thing about winter weddings, you always need to have a Plan B option, just in case the weather isn’t quite perfect. Speak to your venue, they will have lots of advice and tips and tricks for you.
Guests soon took their seats at their tables and the happy couple were introduced into the room. Grace and Matt arranged for long trestle tables instead of round ones to allow everyone to sit together and relax. There was no top table and their were no speeches, everything was wonderful and low-key, just as Grace and Matt had wanted.
As the sun set, and Storm Brian trundled on, it was time for the party to begin! As they cut their gorgeous cake, and the band started up with their first song, Grace Matt and their friends and family took to the floor to dance the night away. It was just brilliant and so much fun!!
Congratulations again Matt and Grace! After working with you at the Royal Derby Hospital for so long I was overjoyed to be asked to be your wedding photographer. It truly was an honour to play a part in your day and get to witness such a joyful occasion for you both. I hope you enjoy this little preview before you receive your full wedding gallery in a couple of weeks!
I wish you both a lifetime of love, happiness and laughter!
